::I panicked because I remembered what Melissa Kaplan use to say about igs attacking their owners during the breeding season.
:Well, wild or not, grumpy or not, in the breeding season or not, my baby will NEVER attack me!!
Flavia, we're all relieved that nothing more than your sandwich suffered this time, but please: never say never! The longer one keeps animals - any animals - the more likely one is going to get bitten. When you have more than one iguana, the likelihood is a near certainty.
And it's not just untamed igs who may do the biting, or igs in breeding season. Freddie's bites were always during breeding season, but Elvys's one bite wasn't, nor was Wally's one bite. And these three were the tamest, most sociable of all my iguanas. Pain and severe stress can also result in what appears to be territorial or breeding season aggression.
So, very glad to know your face is intact, but stay alert! ;)
