I have 5 igs...The older one is 6 years old and was caught in the wild when he was around 3.When I bought him he was wild as hell!!But he never bit me!!I was bitten once by my juvie Thorn. It was not a serious bite it didnt even bleed. But I deserved that bite because at that time I was playing "Im your boss, Im the alpha male iguana" and that game was irritating my iguanas. Im my humble opinion this method will freeze the ig but it will attack you when it has the opportunity!I think a friendly approach " Im your friend, not your master" gets better result in the long run.In my very very humble oppinion,if you buy a baby iguana that doesnt hate humans yet, if you dont scare it, if you treat it with love and respect it will never attack you.

:This is the worst I have personaly experienced.
:This bite is not the worst I've seen!

:
:They can bite. So can you, and so can a "fifi" pet lapdog. Anything will bite if scared or angered enough. Iguana bites are not so bad. Comparitively, they can't damage you as badly as a big monitor, but they sure can cause some lacerations, maybe requiring stitches. You need to respect them for what they are, a large wild animal. They react instinctively to threats, but their reaction is predictable most times. You should read up on ig behavior, and learn to read their body language - they give plenty of warning when they are angry or scared. (Yes, that's my hand. Yes, I still have Kaaz, the sweet boy who bit me. Never separate two angry igs with bare hands if you aren't prepared to be bitten.)

:Other than that, their individual personalities can be anywhere from scared/shy, to social/calm, to hormonal/aggressive. My Kaaz is fairly sweet and social, unless he is provoked or in breeding season. Many people here have very calm and friendly igs. A lot depends on you and the way you socialise your ig. If you spent a lot of time interacting nicely, the ig will learn to expect good things from people. If you scare, hurt, or neglect the ig, he will be much more defensive/aggressive...
