What did he base his decision on? Dominant males comfortable in their status will not necessarily object when a lower ranked male who knows he's lower ranked and doesn't try to up his status lays on the alpha. The alpha may even put up with a little challenge from lower ranked male, when both understand that the challenge is really just pro forma and both know that the lower ranked one hasn't a chance in this life to best the alpha. So, Sheena being on Thor's back doesn't rule out being male. Sheena's head looks a little streamlined for a male, but if she is a recovering rescue, that wouldn't rule out male, either. Especially if the onset of sexual maturity was delayed due to health or environmental problems...
