:How do you guys feel about commercialy availible diets. Do any of you feed them soley. I would rather make it part of my animals diet. Do you feel any are better or worse than others?
You'll find some articles on commercial reptile food products at my Food & Feeding page.
The only pet-store one I know of whose primary ingredient is alfalfa (rather than soy or grains) is the ZooMed...but you still need to feed the proper fresh foods and the human food grade powdered alfalfa is less expensive in the long run.
If you really need the convenience of a prepared food, I suggest the one developed by rep vet/nutrition researcher Susan Donoghue - check out her iguana and other foods at www.herpnutrition.com. The nutritional content of the iguana foods are calibrated to be fed with romaine lettuce, which is usually available in most markets year round.
