be explaned by the fact that it is against the law to keep in captivity wild animals in Brazil and reptiles are considered wild animals.The petshops cannot sell iguanas. To buy one you have to purchase it from special farms authorized from the Government to breed and to sell iguanas.Your iguana will cost you around 150 USD and will come with a microchip.
Of course there are a lot of iguanas that are illegally caught from the wild but the owners cannot take them to the VET because the vets are obliged by law to denounce them to the police.
That's why there are not too many people that raise iguanas in Brazil and 80% of these iguanas cannot be taken to the vet.
