I've never heard of that before. It sounds like you are doing well...just heed some of the advice below as far as adding some collards, mustards, turnip greens, and a little fruit for variety (berries, papaya, mango, melon). Hand feeding does get more in them as suggested below. Igs seem to sometimes forget that they are eating and get bored. If you are there to remind them to stay focused, you'll get more in his belly!
