:COMING THROUGH: One of the iguanas found in Colne in lively mood for the photographer.

:Look what local landlord found in his caravan

:A LANDLORD got the shock of his life when he came face to face with two unusual "tenants".
:The previous occupants of the rented caravan in Colne had vanished without a trace - leaving two, 3ft long iguanas.
:The irresponsible act appalled RSPCA officials who were called in to give the gruesome twosome a new home.
:The discovery of the two creatures, a male and a female, hit the headlines in a national newspaper.
:The two "lounge lizards" had been left to fend for themselves in a cramped 6ft x 4ft makeshift wooden box.
:The stunned landlord immediately called in the RSPCA.
:RSPCA inspector Sarah Hill said: "We will perhaps never know why the tenants left these iguanas behind, but there is no excuse for abandoning animals in this way.
:"The RSPCA now finds itself dealing with the difficult consequences of their actions.
:"Iguanas are not easy animals to look after. They will require a large living space, with specialist heating and lighting requirements."
:The two iguanas have been given a temporary home with an RSPCA worker in Chorley.
:In the long term, it is hoped that they will be moved to an exotic animal specialist elsewhere in the country.
:Mrs Hill added: "Exotic animals do not make good pets. The RSPCA rescues about 3,700 abandoned and unwanted animals, including snakes, lizards, and iguanas, every year and it can be very difficult to find suitable homes for them."
:Mrs Hill was keen to stress that people should not be tempted into buying iguanas as pets.
:"Our simple advice to anyone thinking of getting an exotic animal as a pet is, don't do it," she said.
:The reptiles are native to Central and South America.
