ditto on the other follow ups about the Mercury Vapor lamps. I got mine from www.getwildinside.com there is a great informational link that explains in detail how they work. the only purpose served by the products marketed as "basking bulbs" is to boost the heat & provide illumination.
I have a 160watt Merc Vap flood set up in a corner of my Florida room for my igs free roaming basking spot (along with 2 food warming lights to provide add'l heat & illumination - as necessary) the fixtures are mounted on the cieling. one note: they get HOT, must use 10" dome fixtures with ceramic receptacles.
In his enclosure for night time - where you need heat but no light so I have 2 CHE's mounted into the ceiling & covered with wire.
I fashioned climbing devices & basking shelves from those Closet Maid wire shelving parts available at Home Depot. the top basking shelf (where my ig spends most of his time) spans the horiz width of the enclosure 15" below 2 - 36" ZooMed Reptisun 5.0 UVB tubes - accept no substitues. (I really need 48" since he has grown so much)
basically, the 2 CHE's are in the middle with the 2 tube fixtures on either side - all mounted in the ceiling. place thermometers at various intervals to monitor heat. if you have lower levels that get too cool you could use human heating pads for sleepy time.
