I saw Rodrigo AJ's post on the iguana planet forum.

I then searched the latin specie name, and found the following:

There is a tropidurus in the Galapagos, aka Lava Lizard.
Since he mentioned these lizards were common in northern Brazil, I searched further, and found
TROPIDURUS PERUVIANUS

Here is a link that may tell you more about it:
http://www.ter.nl/Engels/ter/artikelen/hagedissen/Tropidurus_peruvianus_ENG.htm

The thing is, T. peruvianus is also called lava lizard....so I don't know what the heck it is.

My guess is your friend may have got the wrong name for it.

To me, it looks like a dwarf monitor tegu or ameiva.

However, if it is an iguanid, and it is tropical, I assume the care requirements should be the same as iguanas in terms of temps and cage design. However, all you need to find out is diet.

Hope that link helps.

Me gosto muito el sito brazileiro!
