iguanas, ctenosauras, and cycluras are the smarter of the iguanids.
I have heard of both ctenosauras and cycluras being more interesting and smarter than their green brethens, but there are a multitude of stories from green afecionados who will contest this.
As for tameness, the rule of thumb of ctenosauras is snappy, feisty, and just b*tchy. Cycluras have the tenacity to snap like a pitbull, but are known to become downright tame as a pussy cat. There are exceptions to all sepcies. Heck, even a few nile monitors can become tame.
Green have the overall qualities of the three. They are long, but not necessarily as bulky like the cycluras, they tame well, and do show intelligence and personality.
It also depends on how much space u can offer.
If you do not have a lot, avoid the cylcuras, since they are terrestrial, and need A LOT of room space. Cteno's, even if they are a foot or 2 shorter than greens, still need similar enclosure sizes. I have a thing for greens, since I used to have one, but I'm thinking of getting next a cyclura nubila lewisi.

All three are wonderful animals.
Ask around at the other forum. Ask Mark M. on the ctenosauras. And u can e-mail David Blair or visit his website for advice or a caresheet.
