I'd like to post an update about the baby DI who lost his tail a couple weeks ago. I have been feeding him critical care, and just recently a mix from Herp nutrition. He is not eating enough on his own to gain weight. Then yesterday when he got up he had mucus in his eyes, and discharge from his nose and was sneezing. My past experience with lizards told me he had an infection. My other Iquana would get sick in the Winter with respitory infection and weezing. I would give him bird vitamins and he'd get over it. I took Diggy to the vet. On the way he became very active and tried to get out of the box. At the vet she examined him. His eyes were clear, and nose was clear. What happened between home and the vet? THe vet said he has gained weight. But said he could have an infection. She gave me some vitamins, and said she could give him an antibiotic but hesitated. If he gets worse to come and get the antiobiotic. When I give Diggy his food by syringe I am very careful about not getting it in his lungs, in fact I let him lap it up. However he still sometimes has bubbles come out his nose. The vet said it may be because I am giving it to fast to him. Friday he ate on his own. But not enough to sustain him. What do others do to feed their iggys who don't eat properly! Please reply! Thanks! Bill.
