Up until they reach about 2 1/2 feet in total length, it will be nearly impossible to tell.
Males usually have larger dewlaps, and jowls. Around 2 years of age or so they start to differentiate.
However,a juvie is too young to tell. Lookout for seminal plugs, or hemipenes evertions.
And probing should be done by an expert ONLY, since it can cause internal damage.
