I need some serious advice here...
Ok My little guy is about 8-9 months old and about 8 1/2 inches. He gets a daily bath where he drinks and poops. He gets a 150 watt reptile light in the day and a regular blacklight at night. He's fed Zoo Meds Juvenile formula mixed with (this week) turnip greens, tofu, purple plum, and candied cherries for dessert. He has his own shelf, carpeted with a towel covering a human heating pad set to low. In the last month he has really chilled out. I mean, a LOT. He forgot he can whip me and he's totally cool with being loved on. Accepts my attention, well, tolerates it lol
Anyway, He's starting to bite. Started about a week ago when I poured warm water over him to wash off any exess poopy water from his bath. He nipped my arm.Thought it was a love bite, and may have been. Now sometimes when I reach for him on his shelf, he tries to bite me and has succeeded a few times. I know this has to stop before he gets big, but how do I go about it? Ive tapped him on the nose (NOT A THUMP, JUST A TAP to get his attention, for all you bleeding hearts) and he backs down, but when I try to pick him up he'll get me again. He knows I'm the boss and he usually takes my affection in stride. I just want to nip this thing in the bud, beforte its too late and I have a little butthole on my hands. Thanks
