: I got home from working today (about 12:30PM eastern time) and went to check on My Ig and Turts. I saw My Female Spotted Turtle on the bottom of the "tank" (actually a 100 gal rubbermaid horse trough that housed her and an eastern painted). I pulled her out and she was limp. I held her upside down and knocked on her shell trying to clear her lungs. She took a few What seemed to be gasping breathes but it's been about ten minutes since the last one. She's gone. I held her and watched her die. Dad wouldn't let me take her to the vet. Too Expensive He said. I have no idea what I did wrong. She was basking and eatting fine yesterday. No signs at all that anything was wrong. Now She's sitting on me lap, dead. I'm so depressed. I'm actually crying while I'm typeing this. I can't stand this! I'll NEVER get another turtle. After My painted goes, that's it! No MORE! I hate this..
My thoughts are with you heather. There is a part of the Pet hobbyist community that you may find comforting right now. Also please let me know her name and I will add her to the rainbow bridge candle list for pet hobbyist. We do have a pet loss section for the whole community here at pet hobbyist (which is the main part of kingsnake) and all pets are welcome. There is a memorial garden for pictures of babies that have left us sooner than we wanted them too. I will list the links for the sites and what they may offer you. Soon we will also be getting up chats for grief and illness support as well on a daily basis but there are a few chats going on now thru out the week. If you email phcatbyte@pethobbyist.com or me one of us can give you the current list. Once again my heart is with you.
