Thanks for the pointers, Flavia. She is in her same cage with all her same toys, supports , things, etc. We bought her cage and all. I guess her previous owners were a couple who divorced and the woman, who took care of Jewel, left her with the husband... who left her in a basement while he was packing to move.
I'm well aware that her diet is badly in need of changing. I feed my little guy, Gir, only dark leafy greens and fruits and he seems to be very happy with that. Jewel had a ball on a couple grapes yesterday. It was cute. At first she didn't know if she wanted them, and then ate all the pieces I offered her.
I give her pets talk to her almost constantly all day long. She lives in my bedroom with me for now, while she's getting settled, because there isn't much noise and not too many people... so I have lots of quality time with her. I pet her and talk to her and she's okay with that now, mostly... I haven't tried to take her out of her cage yet, though, because she gets sort of upset when I tried, once. So I'm letting her go for a couple more days yet before I try to take her out and cuddle with her at all. I don't want to get hurt, and I CERTAINLY don't want to hurt her.
I've been visiting her every other day at the pet store since I spotted her two weeks ago, PROMISING the pet store people I would come and pay for her this past Friday... and I finally did. I was so HAPPY!
But they did a couple things on the way home I wasn't so happy about... they put her in a box and she just got frantic once the car started... had to hop back there and get half IN the box before she calmed down... the rest of the ride went well though...
Any other pointers, advice, etc would be wonderful.
Angel, and Jewel and Gir too!
:Your iguana's diet is very bad and you must change it immediately. If you dont do that she will die of kidney failure ...You have to feed her dark green leaves and some fruits.
:She is aggressive because you took her out of her house, her environment, her routine...Iguana is an animal that likes routine and likes its house (cage?) very much...Give her some time to get used to you, dont scare her, be gentle, be nice, try to show her that you do not want to be her master but her friend and she will become tame again. But give her time to get used to you and to the new environment!!
