:This is my first post on this forum, so I thought I would also include a photo of my hormone enraged Dexter (2.5yrs, 13" SVL, 43" STL)... Wow, last years breeding season was pretty tame, I guess because he was just reaching that age, but this year, LOOK OUT! Dexter is normally very friendly and affectionate (in that iguana kind of way...), but starting a week ago, he has become a terror! I have to keep the door to the bathroom closed because he is actively looking to pick a fight with the iguana that lives in the mirror (and this is vicious enough that he will hurt himself). He has also tried attacking my parrot (Yellow Nape), as well as myself. So far, I have only two battle wounds. I was bitten once, and not too bad (fortunately). He ran over and bit my neck when I was sitting on the couch and wasn't looking. The other wound is a lovely scratch down my forearm from deflecting him as he launched himself at my head from his enclosure... I've got a pretty decent grasp on how to read him now (and don't leave his door open when he is like this), but its amazing how nuts they can get. Today he was behaving completely fine until he happened to catch a glimpse of his reflection in the 1.8" LCD of the camera (which was sitting on my bed) I used to take the photo, and then it was attack time... I had to put him back in his enclosure... And he still was trying to bite me through the plexiglass... He started showing breeding signs in early August, so I am hoping this won't go on for too long...
:BTW, if you guys like iguana photos, I've got a bunch of them... Dexter is normally a very cooperative subject...
