Yes they can be potty trained. I've had good luck training them from 1-2 years old. I haven't tried on an older iguana but I'm sure they would take to it as well. Be patient but some take to it very quickly. The biggest trick is keeping a routine. If you can't keep one, they won't be potty trained because they can't count on you to let them go. The easiest way is to take them into the bathtub with luke warm water (already filled before you bring them in there or they will be scared). Try to take them before they have gone that day. The warm water will stimulate them. Repeat this daily or more than once per day if your ig goes frequently. Eventually they will wait until you take them. I take mine btw. 4-7:30 every evening. He is flexible now that he has been trained for so many years. I no longer fill the bathtub with water but he goes as soon as he is placed in there. It is easier for me to clean it up and rinse him this way. When you get them very well trained they will go any time you place them in the tub (even if you do it 12 hours early) but this should only be done when completely necessary. They like a schedule and count on it.
As far as your cage, it will be too small for an adult but fine for a juvenile.
