Well this happened here in my neck of the woods (Oklahoma). The news coverage which did remark that the usual method of contracting salmonella is from raw chicken, featured an interview with the head of the blood institute. He stated that this was a VERY rare occurrance. What worries me is this is just one more thing for the anti-reptile people to use against us. We really need to push the idea to new keepers to WASH THEIR HANDS! Might also be a good idea that anytime you go to donate blood you inform them that you do have reptiles. Oh, one other thing. The newsman said that the infection was from the guy's pet boa and then they showed a photo of a big reticulated python! Lets hear it for accuracy!
