The average iguana from a petstore lasts 1-2 years :( So many of them die due to improper care so asking the average will never give you the information you desire. The oldest in recorded captivity was 29 years. I think most people's iguanas don't live nearly that long, however. If your iguana makes it to half of that age, it is pretty good, although we should always strive to beat 29 years!
