Is Spike trying to get my attention?

I'm not sure what to make of what Spike did yesterday.

When I bathed him, he did not poop, but he hasn't been eating a whole lot either so I didn't worry about it. When I got into bed (we share a room), he had crawled in between my cover and top sheet and pooped there. He actually crawled in my bed and pooped.

Is he just being a nut, or is he trying to get my attention or something? I'm not sure if I should laugh or worry about him.

Any ideas?
