(snip)(You've gotta admit, these are just surface lacerations. Not even deserving an emergency room visit. A big monitor with steak-knife teeth can do a lot worse...) (snip)
Very true. A minor surface wound from an iguana will bleed like a stuck pig, mainly due to the sharp teeth. Usually slicing action as you pull away, or as the iguana shakes.
In the case of a monitor, you are gonna get TORE UP. If it is of decent size, you WILL go to the hospital.
(snip)Ig body language is quite clear when they are ready to attack. That white head and puffed look couldn't signal his intention any clearer!(snip)
I know what you mean, but when they do it every day for a year, you start to ignore it. You just walk a little more carefully, and try not to get too close.
(snip)tart tail-twitching as they work themselves up to full attack mode, and try to charge from the back, or when I take my eyes off them. Does he "yawn" or "gape" at you when he is aggressive, like my two?(snip)
I know the tail twitch well... Usually a good warning sign of a pending bite, lunge, or flight. Mine do gape when they are aggressive... Almost like they are just waiting for something to fall into their mouth so they can tear into it. A towel usually helps in those situations... Let them attach the towel, and then grab them.
