when i said force feeding him i was planning on doing exactly what you said. i don`t have a needless syringe and besides i understand that sometimes force feeding can make an illness worse, if in fact he is ill. he won`t even eat his favs, which are dark leafy greens. hes weird. i think everyones ig just loves fruits except mine! he could really care less about fruit. but hes crazy about collard greens and cilantro! and anything else big and green. he has only pooped once in like 7 days and i had to soak him for 20 mins and rub his belly before it came out. it also seemed very small from what he usually "offers" and it seemed like it was very difficult for him to get it out. i am not too worried about letting him ahve free roam of my room because he is let out in it pretty much every day. i know his hiding spots and i ahve checked my room for iggy hazards as well. also, he would probably stay right in the basking area because my strategy is to make it the highest shelf so that he will climb up as high as he can get and then be happy and warm there. i will try it,but i don`t think i will have too much of a problem. i`m a worry wart anyways, i would never just leave him in a room without checking up on him often.ok well thanx for your suggestions. i`ll see what happens, i`mwatching him very closely right now. he still is acting normally though. i have watched him closley and his daily habits really ahven`t changed except the digging. he just started that recently, like within the last couple of weeks. i will take him to the vet soon tho. i don`t think the vet would let me bring him in to be seen around here, with out paying for 2 weeks. i`m not going to tkae him to the vet i did before. i didn`t think that she knew enough about igs. she didn`t offer to do a fecal exma or blood tests even though i explained to hr that he was a rescue, and i wasn`t sure of his health. so we have another vet here in town that was reccommended to me and i think i will take him to that one instead. i`ll keep you posted on how things turn out...... thanx for all of the suggestions. =)

*force* feed him!!!! *tempt* him with nummies instead ... forcing should be a *very last* resort because it is stressful in itself ...

: it sounds ike petrie definitely needs a bigger enclosure! *grin* i think lots of extra free roaming time is a really good idea *and* a very good compromise until you can get it built ... i *would* worry about 2 things tho ... that he won't stay warm enough out running in your room and that he could get hurt doing some silly iguana thing .... it's really a toss-up which way to go .... *if* petrie will hang out in his basking spot where it's warm, it'd probably be ok temporarily ... iZ tends to search out cold dark corners when he roams around at night and *that* would worry me if petrie did it all day everyday .... he needs to stay warm enough for his digestive system to work properly ...

: the scratching at his enclosure is him trying to get out ... iZ will *still* do that even tho he has his own room if i'm late coming up to get him after work! so yes, he wants out and no, it's not *just* size of enclosure ... *grin*

: ok, petrie's appetite .... 70 degrees is only warm to us humans ... it's still on the cool side for iglets tho! (wait til this summer when it's 100 degrees and 100% humidity! *then* you'll see a happy ig!) how warm is his enclosure at night? since it's too small to have a cool *and* a warm spot, i'd only have it warmed up to 80-85 degrees ... (too warm can be stressful too)
: offer him his most favorite foods ... maybe some nice juicy fruit to get some moisture into him ... i'd give him drinks from an oral syringe a couple times a day if he's not eating *at all* so he doesn't get dehydrated ... (pedialyte or infalyte in the baby aisle) you could try 'spoon feeding' him baby food if you're really worried ... (coaxing/tempting not forcing!) even if he only eats a few bites, that's better than nothing at all!

: definitely go to a vet when you get paid and have a fecal test done for worms/parasties! that can make a *huge* difference ... keep him warm enough during the day and make sure you carefully ig-proof your room! (*every*thing that can get knocked over, *will*!) make sure he can't lick any light bulbs (iZ's trick) ... try to keep a set routine with him so he knows what to expect and when ... if tubs don't stress him out totally, warm soaks can help ... he may take sips from the tub and it can help him relax and poop if he needs to ... tempt him with his favorites nummies ... either spoon feed or *little* squirts of baby food ... maybe try fruits ...

: iZ always looked really scrawny when he was smaller until he lived here a while and fattened up ... he'd poop and then look awful ... *that* will just take some time and some good eating habits ....

: (maybe, if you talked to the vet, he'd see petrie now and let you pay in 2 wks?)

: hang in there! i think our igs just like to get us worried over little things sometimes to watch how frantic we can get! *grin* (+ explain to him that he is not a kitty cat!)

: dandelions + head rubs for petrie and a head bob from iZ telling him to eat + grow strong!
