I had an iguana that had a mite problem, i had to use oil to help suffocate the mites and then wash her aftewards, however the mites had come from the pet store or in the process of coming intot e states or wherever she came from. Sadly this ig did not survive.
Mites normally only appear from an outside source, My iguana now, jade, has never had them or had a problem with them. The key is to keep the enclosure clean, and not to subject it to other animals with mites.
