Ambient heating in a large enclosure?

I'm currently getting my stuff together to build a large enclosure (approx, 7ftx8ftx4ft). What do people use to keep the ambient temp at the correct level here (and I'm talking mainly to people in colder regions)? Actually I'm mainly interested in what sort of output wattage I'll need to heat this size of enclosure (500/700watts etc?).
