I keep Jackson's (well, just one Jackson now) and they are a completely different ballpark. Some differences are temperature and humidity requirements (chameleons need tons of humidity, particularly Jackson's and veiled), caging style, temperature needs, substrate, etc. While you need a lot of the same equipment, I would definitely treat the chameleon as a whole different species (which they are) when doing your research.
