...which is pretty often lately, since we are trying to make him feel like part of the ~family~... his favorite place to sit is on a window ledge less than half that size (!?!) I don't even know how he fits up there. He balances on it with his two back feet and presses his face and forearms up against the glass. We live on a busy street and I think he likes to watch the cars outside go by.
That said, it probably wouldn't hurt to build him something. My first suggestion would be to find a way to cover the 'jungle gym' so that it won't be difficult to clean. What about building an extension to the window sill? Anyone at a hardware store can show you a few simple ways to build an inexpensive but sturdy shelf (the easiest being attaching some of those L-shaped braces to the wall and then securing a board on top of them).
