I prefer a floor that fecal matter can fall through. My cages are made of coated wire so no danger for iguanas claws. In a cage like that you can use any kind of bedding because the ig's tongue dont go so far!!Linoleo or newspaper looks "iark" (nauseating)just after one poop/peep.You can put wheels in a cage like that and transport it inside and outside depending on the weather!!
How do you tell a green iguana from any other green lizards?Just find the large scale bellow the eardrum or tympanum and back to the jaw. This feature is unique to iguana iguana.

The green color in green iguanas in general
fades when the iguana is around 2 , 2, 5 years old.Perhaps the iguana you saw is younger than that.

:We fell completly in love with a one year old BRIGHT green female iguana yesterday, she was for adoption from a local iguana rescue. We have been making plans to build a large cage for her (assuming of course no one else adopts her before we can get the ideal setup) and have run across a question. What kind of floor would be good for a large cage? We are going to build her a 6' tall,4' long and 2' deep so it can barely fit through the door so we can take her outside in nice weather. We were wondering if a floor that fecal matter can fall through would be better or a solid, tile type floor would be better. She is already "potty trianed" and knows to go on paper.

:Any ideas? I am new to lizards but my boyfriend (we live together) has had a few and we are getting tips from the rescuer woman.

:One more thing, this iguana is really bright green and beautiful. Most of the other iguanas I have seen have been light green or brown. The rescuer said that she was a different subspecies of iguana and not a plain green iguana, are most of them the brown or light green? If she does get adopted, we will most likely find another one to adopt or buy from a breeder (not a pet store) but would like to find a bright one, are there many bright ones? Were would I look to find one? I've been searching but can't really find people who breed iguanas. Thanks so much!!!
