A lot of people ask that same question! No venom in pythons...They kill their prey by constricting them. The bite(to me) is not painful at all. It feels like a quick hit, not even a pinch. However, they do have teeth, very sharp one I might add, which slice the skin without pain. They don't have a lot of pressure to apply when biting, so an iguana bite is(in my opinion) a WHOLE LOT WORSE!!
As for articifial heating/lighting, I think I have that under control. NOW I KNOW WHY YOUR IGS ARE SO MAGNIFICENT AND HEALTHY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ALL THAT ARTIFICIAL STUFF!! :oD Thank you Flavia, for all the information and advice you have given me and everyone else who came "in search of!!" YOUR IGS ARE SO BIG AND BEAUTIFUL, I can only hope Edgar will be the same!!
TAKE CARE!!

:...they dont have...venon??Their bites are not painful??

:Flavia

:PS:I cannot help you with Edgars cage because I keep my igs outdoors!!I dont know anything about artificial heating and lighting!!

:%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
:..THANK YOU! Jinx recognizes me very well. He is the sweetess snake I have had the priviledge of sharing this earth with. He has never bitten me intentionally(although once during a stupid feeding error). Other than that he LOVES to come out and explore, he will even fall asleep on me, he's not head-shy WHAT-SO-EVER, and eats like there is no tomorrow. He's pretty smart, too, he knows exactly where the cage opens up(although he can't get out because its a slide top with a lock) and he'll climb up my arm when I reach in to take him out. Saige doesn't have as much personality, but she is a gorgeous girl who is SLOWLY getting the hang of me. She knows when I have food, and that's about the only time she'll come over to the glass with her head poised ready to strike at anything that smells like food! She has never bitten me, though. Fantastic eater as well!! Both are pushing 4 feet at 1 year and 2 months old!!
::Now about Edgar's cage, I have decided to go with something that is 5 feet wide, 6'10" or 7'(haven't decided, but I want to build a heating lighting box in the top of the enclosure), and 41" deep. I'm definetly going with wood and glass(I can get glass for free), and maybe a screen window or 2. Edgar is about 29" stl, plus I'd prefer to let him have supervised free-roam of my room and parts of the house. Well, if you have any suggestions to Eddy's enclosure, I'd love to hear them. I have been searching the net looking and taking notes on enclosures. I'm pretty sure I got all the basics covered. I'm also waiting for my "Ultimate Owner's Manual" to come in! THANX FOR YOUR REPLIES-I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR FROM CoRR!!!!!!!!!!

::
:::You draw very well!And your snakes are gorgeous...Can snakes be tame??Do they recognize you?I dont know anybody that raise snakes ( apart from this Forum!LOL!!).And about Edgar's cage?What are you going to build for him??

:::Good luck!!

::::Arrgghhh...I'm waiting to hear back from CoRR. I sent in my application and fee, and I REALIZE they are very busy, and it's a priviledge to have them answer back in the first place. I know they will get around to it when they have a breath. It's just the wait to hear from them that is making me anxious! I'm soo excited. I talked to my friend who took Skitz, and it sounds like she is doing fine. It sounds like she is really taming down a lot and growing. Anyways, sorry for wasting thread, I'm just very excited and trying to find a way to kill the anxiety LOL! Well, I know this isn't the right forum, but since I'm already wasting space, why not add some pix to go with it! Hee hee...Here are my balls(Jinx and Saige):
::::I LOVE THIS PIC! Jinx is on the right, Saige on the left.
