Michael....are the supplements you're talking about...for reptiles? or humans? Commercial reptile supplements are safe to give your Igs(because the listed amts. of ingredients are usually grossly exaggerated) Magnesium is an essential nutrient that is not produced by the body..but obtained by food (gotta love those greens!) Magnesium works very closely with calcium in building bone , & effects muscle, nerve transmission and the immune system). Magnesium supplementation is not needed (if Ig is getting lots of dark leafy greens) but it won't harm your Ig (maybe a little diarrhea if overdoing it). I personally don't believe in supplements(that's another story!) unless you've got a youngster or gravid or sick Ig (Ive read magnesium supplements have been recommended for Igs with renal (kidney)failure.
