In Reply to: GONNA DO IT...and some enclosure questions! posted by chikkensht on September 04, 2002 at 18:10:01:
My plans are for an enclosure 6'10" high(that 10 inches will be a box above the entire enclosure that houses the lighting/heating,etc.), 5' long, and prolly 30" deep. Edgar is 29" snout to tail. I'm pretty sure I have the proprtions right, but I wanted to check it over with you guys. I realize this may not be the biggest enclosure in the world, but I do plan on letting him have supervised free-roam of my room and certain parts of the house. Thanx again for reading my posts and any replies I may get!!
:Well, I'm gonna do it. I am gonna adopt Edgar. I have nothing but good feelings about him. He was my choice way back even before I got Skitz. I sent in my application fee today, and I hope to hear back from CoRR soon. In the mean time, I have ordered my "Ultimate Owner's Manual" by James Hatfield, and I am in the planning process for building Eddy's new home. I would like to hear and/or see enclosures made by you folks. I DO NOT want an entire screen/wire enclosure. I was thinking of wood and glass, with maybe a sceen window or door. The reason for this is so my room is not A THOUSAND degrees like it was when I had Skitz. I also think these look more professional. The one thing I have heard about these types of enclosures is that it is hard to maintain a basking temperature, although they hold ambient temperatures well. I need some thoughts guys. I am hoping my guide comes in soon, I believe there is a section on building enclosures in there. Hmmm, I had another question, but I cannot think of it. Thanks for any input and pictures!
