The basic gist of it is that Pethobbyist and Kingsnake are and always have been one entity. Below you will find a press release. Not all forums here on kingsnake are currently moderated. We are slowly expanding to moderate them all, however current staff as well as kingsnake employees are working on getting everything moderated. Not much has changed message board wise, but it will. New message boards are currently being created to be more user friendly. The iguana forum hosts are PHMeliss, PHKiwi and myself. Our job is to watch for inappropriate posts as outlined in the TOS as well as to become part of community. We do not have the ability to delete message or ban users at this point. All that lies within kingsnake abuse department. We also now have moderated chats here as well. Chats for kingsnake.com are basically free for all discussions. Here is the full press release that explains the move over here for PCFers who are now PHers. Also with the arrival of the PHers Jeff can now build up his other hobbyist sites such as insecthobbyist, doghobbyist, critterhobbyist, cathobbyist and horsehobbyist. If people have pets in these other areas they are invited to cross over!

The last 12 years have been full of friendship, community, and shared learning for the members and hosts of the Pet Care Forum - and now we embark on a new phase of our adventure! PCF is moving to PetHobbyist.com. Starting in the next two weeks, you will find your favorite PCF hosts, chats, newsletters, and message boards at our new home at http://www.pethobbyist.com. Please drop by, register, say hi, and give us feedback on any changes you'd like to see there!

From 1990, when a group of veterinarians and pet owners came together on America Online to create what became AOL's Pet Care Forum and the Veterinary Information Network (VIN), to the February, 2000, move to the web, our members have been the foundation of our success. For that, we thank you! The hosts and staff of the Pet Care Forum also want to thank everyone at VIN for all they have done for us over the years, and for making such efforts to help us find a new home.

"Our increased focus on veterinary professionals decreased the time and energy we had for our pet owner communities. This would have kept them from thriving. Rather than abandon our friends in The Pet Care Forum by closing the communities, we found a new home for them. VIN will remain active providing services for pet owners online through the VeterinaryPartner.com and Vetquest.com sites. These sites are more in line with our mission -- to directly serve the needs of veterinarians, their staff, their patients, and their clients," said Paul D. Pion, DVM, DACVIM, co-founder and president of the Veterinary Information Network.

We know you'll have lots of questions, so we've created "Frequently Asked Questions" paged at http://www.vin.com/PetCare/FAQMove.htm to give you more information about the move. And of course, you can post on our Comments & Feedback Board at Message Boards Link We will be monitoring it constantly to answer your questions. (Until our
official move date [August 12], you'll find us on both the old and new sites, ready to help you find your way around!)

PetHobbyist.com

PetHobbyist.com is very familiar with online communities for pet
owners. It launched its kingsnake.com community in 1997.
Kingsnake.com, long recognized as the largest and most popular
reptile and amphibian owners' community and one of the most popular pet sites on the internet, is based on a similar feature format as VIN's Pet Care Forum.

"VIN's Pet Care Forum is truly one of the pioneers in online
community building and we have learned a lot from watching it grow over the past 12 years," said OnlineHobbyist.com, Inc., CEO Jeff Barringer.

Jeff made the decision to expand his successful site to include
community for all kinds of pets. He is extremely grateful to VIN for the chance to work with the Pet Care Forum hosts and members, and for being chosen to provide a home for the existing communities.

If you go to www.pethobbyist.com you can find various other info such as posting info (which you already know how to do ;}), chat info, photo hosting info as well as a few other very basic FAQs regarding the move. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

:Kingsnake between the time I last posted sometime in April, and now? Is Kingsnake under new ownership? What's with all the pethobbyist stuff? And we seem to have a number of moderators now. I missed the deal with xta completely, but I'm sure glas she's still around.

:What's changed in the last 3 months?
