instaed of buying one how about adopting one. many humane societies and other animal shelters are overrun by neglected iguanas that no one wanted anymore.
little run down on care: day time temps cool side 80 and warm side uppers 80s to low 90s during the day. basking spot 95-100. night time temps around 75. full spectrum lighting during the day. i think most full spectrum bulbs are most effective when the animal can bask under it at the most of 18 inches away. so have it 18 inches or closer. i would mist it down a couple times a day making sure that by the time the lights are turned off that the cage can dry out. don't want your ig sitting in a cool damp cage. food.....mine eats cauliflower, broccoli ( which i guess might not be the best for it in large amounts), spinach ( also might not be good in large amounts), mustard greens, collard greens, turnip green, yellow squash, dandle lion flowers, and in smaller amounts mixed in with the vegies but not every time are strawberries, oranges, apples, grapes, and other various fruits. mine also will eat tomatoes, carrots, peppers, onion, and basically anything i give her. shes a good ig. lol the key is to give your iguana a varied diet from the beginning. don't spoil her on on type of food or it might be hard to get her to eat different types. i also stay away from lettuces. mostly she gets the greens. don't forget that iguanas grow like weeds. it might be 7 inches today but in a few months its gonna be 2 feet. check out the other questions and posts on the forum. look at how big your cagfe is gonna have to be when its an adult....or just in a few months. minimum cage to start your ig should be a 40 bdr. nothing less. and even thats only going to last a couple of months. know what you are getting into with an iguana. they all have their own personalities and such. no guarantee that you will have a good tempered adult once it hits puberty. well the foods and temps that i said were what work for me. but don't just take what i say. research research research..... this is a long term commitment. iguanas can live 15 plus yrs.
