In Reply to: OT, but an interesting spider photo on Bug\'s enclosure.... posted by srjohnt on September 02, 2002 at 19:41:58:

I used to have spiders big like that in my house (Brazil) and I scolded my maids because they used to kill the spiders. They were innofensive and sooo cute!!The man from the Zoo to where we take them(the spiders not the maids!!) said they were juvies tarantulas. My maids like to kill the bats that I also have in my garden.I suppose I will have to oblige them to watch Discovery Channel to learn something about animals(LOL)!!

I do like tarantulas but I hate cockroaches and crickets!!
:I don't have any recent photos of Bug, but I wanted to post something just to make sure I still could...

:This pic was taken when I walked into the bathroom (that's where Bug's enclosure is), looked down, and saw this wolf spider. It's the biggest one I've ever seen... Bug's enclosure is made of 2x2 lumber, so that will give you a reference point as to size. Remember, too, that we live in an old house in the country, and it's not exactly critter proof.

:We left this big girl alone since it looks like she could eat lots of other critters that we don't want. (It's OK, Mary likes spiders) I've seen her once since...

:Regards, JohnT
