A giant dragon? No -- but it was still a pretty big lizard
Reports of a possible Komodo dragon loose brought police and, eventually, King County animal control officers to a condominium complex in the 14500 block of Northeast 32nd Street Saturday afternoon.
The world's biggest lizard, Komodo dragons can grow nearly 12 feet long. The critter finally captured as it slithered across the parking lot and into nearby bushes was more like 4 feet long.
``It's an iguana,'' said animal control officer Kris Meyer. ``People keep them as pets.''
All of which confirmed the suspicions of at least one officer who responded to the initial call. ``All those years of watching Discovery Channel have finally paid off,'' he said.
