Thorn my 2,5 years old male iguana dropped half of his tail when he was 11 months. The tail regrew again. On the beginning the new tail looked like a black leather thing but after a few months it became beige color and now it seems the " normal" scales are regrowing also.At least I saw a few days ago that a new row of " normal", green scales was recovering the new tail bellow the cut.
OK, when Thorn dropped his tail I didnt do anything!!No Betadine, nothing.I just washed the cut with clean water and kept the remaining tail and his cage spotless for a few weeks.Healthy iguanas are very strong and recover very easily from such accidents.

:Hi. Today, my iguana (after spending some time in the sun, was quite a bit perky) managed to start climbing on a window, and it came down right on her tail. :( It came right off cleanly, very little blood (although the tail was still thrashing around when I put it in the sink). I took her to a vet right away, who put some Bridine on her remaining tail, and force-fed her some Septra. Now my instructions were (this is not an experienced reptile vet, folks) to put the Bridine on the tail 3 times daily, and the Septra into her mouth once a day. Will this help her? She is (now) 10-11 inches SVL, and she lost a good 12 inches of her tail, even though there's still around 5-6 inches left of it.

:Now, I never gave her a bedadine bath as many sites recommended, but I got her to a vet as quickly as possible, and she seems to be unphased by the whole ordeal. (While I was re-cleaning her cage when we got home from the vet, she kept hopping from the couch by her cage and kept trying to climb on top of her cage!)
:I was wondering if these treatments that I mentioned above would be enough to prevent infection, and maybe grow some of her tail back.

:I'm not a newbie ig keeper either. I've had her for around a year-and-a-half, and raised her from the ill, bitter, cold ig she was when I rescued her from a stupid suburban kid. Please, master ig keepers (just stroking your egos ;) ) help me out.
