Well, no master ig keeper here, but I do have some experience in tail loss, since Bug seems to be bent on chewing his off at a rate of a few inches a year...

Hopefully, the vet did not stitch the tail wound closed. If the tail is allowed to heal naturally, there is a better chance of regrowth, although the regrowth will never match the real thing.

Betadine will do fine on the stump. In fact, I used nothing on Bug's last self-amputation, just kept it clean and watched it. Just watch carefully for any sign of infection, and keep it clean, especially if she drags it in poop when she "goes". The majority of igs eventually lose at least a little of thier tails, so it's not really a big issue. She'll do fine with the abbreviated appendage.
