The information on lighting from Zoo Med is essentially correct - you will find advertising-free information at my site, in the Captivity section. Those interested will also find information on the mercury vapor lamps (now made by three different companies) and concerns with them (to both reptiles and their humans).
Zoo Med, who recommends against exposing diurnal reptiles to actual sunshine, also makes a pelleted food product for iguanas; the instructions say to not offer fresh foods and to feed dry. This poses a health risk to captive iguanas who already suffer from chronic dehydration in captivity, not to speak of the bruising and laceration of the soft tissues as the dry pellets are swallowed. The one good thing about this product is that its main ingredient is alfalfa, so it can be used to add the extra plant protein, fiber and calcium to the ig's fresh food diet, in place of using a 100% alfalfa product (though a plain alfalfa product is generally going to be less expensive than a commercial product such as ZM's pellets.).
Zoo Med is also the company that pictures iguanas on their hot rock packaging and in their media advertisements - but say that iguana owners are "stupid" if they buy hot rocks for their iguanas because they are inappropriate for iguanas.
That's why I like having lots of products by different product manufacturers to chose from... ;)
