I have a life size plastic iguana that has a better sex life than most humans....What I don't understand is that even my females were drawn to it...(I know they are/were females because they have laid eggs)...go figure
:A seminal plug is a build up of seminal fluid that occurs in sexually mature males that do not mate or (hump) some object! LOL For example, if Spike above was getting off on your pillow, he would probably not get a seminal plug because he would release his semen on the pillow (icky! ha ha)
:Seminal plugs will be released from the vent area, sometimes when they go to the bathroom or sometimes on their own. Sleestack is known for getting them stuck and needs warm baths to help him pass them (and sometimes I have to assist and pull it the rest of the way out.... :-P Once I had to take him to the vet because even with KY lubricant, it was stuck firmly and wouldn't budge (he started walking funny and it was in the way). Normally iguanas pass them without any help so don't worry!
:What do they look like you might ask??? They can range in size and color...usually from an inch to a few inches and tan, orange, or brown. If they are fresh, they will be squishy and more tubular shaped. If they are older, they can be hard and look like a twisted, dried apricot. They may leave them in the cage as a present for you. Years ago, I couldn't figure out what they were either..kept finding them. After time, I discovered what these little presents were! Sleestack is the seminal plug king! I don't know how many he has a year, but it is a lot! He refuses to mate with towels or shirts or the luv sock like my last male.
