Obviously they are not well taken care of if they have abcesses and swollen limbs. Although it is hard to do, it is best not to give money to petstores who do not care for their animals properly. Your pets will only be replaced with new ones and the cycle will continue (this is not true adoption unfortunately).
I would take your vets to a qualified herp vet immediately. It sounds like they have MBD and need A LOT of medical attention to reverse this and remove/treat the abcesses. Good luck and keep us posted.
