*most* agree iguanas need + enjoy a variety of foods ... *especially* if you're not giving them a supplement of any kind, there's no *perfect* food that will provide *all* the nutrients igs need ... (iZ is actually *less* of a picky eater when he *does* get variety! he'll finish his entire salad and ask for more ...) with only 10% vegies, there's no way to get enough of all the other vitamins/minerals an ig needs to be healthy! crushed Centrum tablets (teeny amounts!) as a supplement is recommended by MK + JS ...

collards have a higher amount of calcium than mustard or dandelion greens ... (per Jen S.'s tables): (per 1 cup)
collards: 148 calcium 7.79:1 cal:phos
dandelions: 104 cal. 2.89:1 cal:phos
mustards: 104 cal. 1.79 :1 cal:phos

it *is* possible for an ig to get too much calcium from diet alone (no supplements) ... which is why it's not necessarily good to feed *just* a few greens ...

i *do* agree we tend to get a bit tense when talking about diets! but the reason i like *this* board is that we can disagree and discuss and therefore, LEARN!

and i agree that our igs seem to calm down as *we* do!!! (kids do the same ..... *grin*)

and as far as a *day* job ... i've got one + will *never* adjust to getting up *before* the birds, in the dark! *yech*

hibiscus + head rubs to your iggies from iZ + mom
