Well the people who will traditionally eat iguanas are not the ones that will keep them as pets... Same with all these other animals.

:The Holy Week is 40 days after Carnival (March/April).During the Holy Week the Brazilian eat fish.

:So, people when get tired of their pets...they eat them???I hope they will not do the same with their children!!!...or husband!!!(or wife??)

::I actually have a care book from the 70's I think that has a recipe for Iguana stew. I suppose it is meant for people who get sick of their pets. But i have spoken to many people from mexico at shows and they tell me that iguana is much like chicken. I explain that while i eat chicken I do not keep them as pets but I do keep iguanas as pets and have NO desire to eat them. I also remember an article that iguanas are often eaten in Mexico and central america during Holy Week. When that is I am not sure, but i believe it is spring.
