I always get someone to make sure there isn't a huge quantity of mail sticking out of the box, that place looks secure, etc. That person is welcome to surf on my computer, watch TV, do stuff to make the place look occupied.
And the things in my house are just things! It would be a huge bummer to get robbed, have to file police reports and insurance claims, and then replace those things. How in heaven's name do you replace a life should something go wrong?
