:how you use your mouse and keyboard. I am at the computer all day (computer animator/artist) and then at night as a hobby too! I had to custom make my own small table to put my mouse on so it can rest on the arm rest of the chair and I don't have to raise it to table height. I also use my whole arm to move the mouse instead of my wrist. This has helped me a lot although now I do have some knotted shoulder/neck pain unfortunately. I guess I would rather have that then carpel tunnel syndrome, but this whole computer thing is going to make our eyes, arms, and bodies atrophy! Good luck with the surgery!
