Actually, fewer and fewer snake keepers are feeding their pets live food. There are lots of reasons to feed frozen/thawed rodents, and few if any to feed live (unless the snake simply will not accept pre-killed prey). Grocery store meat is a different story, but when you think about it...meat is meat, and if it smells like food they will probably eat it. I feed my ratsnakes thawed out frozen mice, and my tiny baby garter snakes cut up frozen fish. My iguana, of course, is a different story. Great pics, by the way, Flavia. Duffy

:I understand your feelings.I would feel the same way if I had a snake...I dont like to kill any animal!!.I bought some living cheap fishes to give to my turtles but they look so cute that I didnt give them to the turtles and now I have a whole family of fishes living in my balcony!!!
:Here is the photo.Sorry if my hair is not properly combed but we had just came out of the sea!!My son is only 17 and he loves my reptiles as much as I do!!The snakes mouths are tied up with a tape!!
:I would love to have that large yellow snake from Thailand.I forgot her name..Its an albino I think...I read they make great pets!!

::Yes I would like to see some pictures thanks. I have NEVER heard of someone feeding their snake meat from the grocery store!!
::But I have read that if you feed pythons dead rodents they will become more tame. So my little girl eats frozen/thawed rats. I buy them from a website and I thaw them out in a ziploc bag and hot water.
::They say that after a while the python will just open its mouth and start eating it but my girl snatches it and constricts it like it is alive.
::I have a really hard time feeding my snake rats/mice, I feel so sorry for them, if they would only eat veggies!!
::I like to feed frozen/thawed because it is a more humane way. I can't stand to hear the rats squeek while they are being constricted.
::This website that I buy mine from puts them down like vets do to dogs, cats etc. So at least they were never in pain.

::Amber
