Was the tongue portion swollen or was it the tube looking thing at the base of tongue (down the throat). Swollen tongues from what i have been told by vets can be a sign of kidney failure. HOWEVER A few years ago my oldest iguana (who we are expecting kidney failure in) had her tongue and epiglottis (the tubey looking thing) swelled (is that even a word) up to the point that it was constricting breathing. That was not a fun situation and several hundred dollars after a visit to an emergency clinic(that i had to do most of the work at anyhow) we found the problem. My iguana had gotten hair wrapped around her tongue and epiglottis. It did create a slight infection that took a bit of time to clear up, but I did remedy that situation toot-sweet by wearing my hair in braids. If i were me I would consider getting the ig in for a blood panel. I am gathering from the way you worded things that your ig was a rescue and there may be a possibility of underlying problems from previous care.

:last night I fed myyaa and her tongue was swollen I gave her baby food and tums instead of her greens. this morning the swelling had gone down and she ate small cut green w/ babyfood. Any idea why this would happen? her lights got turned of on accident yesterday when I was gone could this have done it? I called the vet and she said to just watch her for awhile sometimes strange things just happen and since she is improving she is not very concerned. Myyaa is about seven years old, had the beggining of mbd when I got her, was fine last year with x-rays. Thanks Shelby
