We had some really bad power issues at my old place. While storms in summer arent bad, we had more issues with snows in winter. I suggest this for everyone to keep some things on hand. Im sure Melissa will have more suggestions as well. I keep several water bottles on hand (one for each of iguanas and I have 2 extra. so thats 5) I also purchase the heat packs that hunters use. You crack them and they heat for up to 8 hours. I have about 30 of those on hand at all times. I have extra blankets that are used only to cover cages to keep heat in. I also purchased a battery powered space heater a few years ago to offer some extra temps. I am however at an advantage because my reptiles are all in one room and thats all that is in there. And since it is a fairly small room that is totally enclosed I can maintain heat a bit better.

I only really get concerned when temps drop below 50 degrees. While that is not a good long term temp it is possible to maintain at that for 2 days or so...

So Theres my storm story. I think the longest we went without power was 4 days in summer and 3 in winter. And everyone made it alive.

:We got some bad storms yesterday in NY....

:Guilderland got microbursts, even. My part of Schenectady, or atleast my street, didn't have electricity from 4pm till 1230am.

:So Tarzan got an early bed time.. *sighs*
:He seems to have handled it well and doesn't show any ill effects this morning, sleeping all cuddly on top of my big 8 foot plush snake, on top of the cage. lol.

:
:Did anyone else get a taste of the storm? We had trees down(not ours, but nearby) and a butt-load of branches in our yard(mostly front).
