i can't believe that a *qualified* *herp/ig* *vet* would think that the yearly trauma of eggs is less dangerous than surgery ( it *shouldn'* be!) .... but iZ is male, so that may affect *my* opinion somewhat .... *talk*to*Des*!

about feeding: there is a *huge difference* between *force* feeding and what you should try first! *YES* she needs to eat at least a bit, but i wouldn't *force* her!!! when iZ was sick + didn't want to eat, i mixed up his baby food and sat him on my lap and *coaxed* him to eat ... i used a soft rubber-tipped baby spoon and would coax his mouth open and spoon feed him ... an oral syringe would also work, just coaxing her mouth open and giving *little* squirts of food ...
it'd take a 1/2 hour to get a tablespoon of food into him ...*but* ... i think it was the *least stressful* way to do it ... when he *positively* *did* *not* *want* any more, he'd let me know + refuse to let me open his mouth ... otherwise, he'd put up with me and let me open his mouth and sometimes take little licks from
the spoon ... i used "Infalyte" (or Pedialyte, in the human baby aisle of your store) instead of water to replace lost electrolytes ... IMHO, that is coaxing, *not* forcing ... forcing is *totally* against their will and has got to be **very** stressful! tempt her with her favorites but let her be the final judge as far as what will fit into her already full tummy!

keep coming back and if nothing else, we can give you emotional support (some for you + some to pass onto Meggy!)
