I don't know how good it is to force feed a gravid Ig.
I know that when my T-rex was gravid she did stop eating, for a short period of time, and she drank lots of water on her own to keep herself hydrated.
This told me that she kept herself hydrated but maybe she didn't have enough room for food.
So I'd say maybe liquids are ok, but forcing food into a tummy that doesn't have enough room could result in problems.
As for spaying I'd be more afraid of the incision and an infection moreso then the anesthesia itself.
In Jim Hatfields green Ig manual is a photo of an Ig that was in captivity and lived for 27 years.
My female is 9 3/4 yrs old now and still going strong :)
