I communicated my shock to John, when I heard about the low numbers. It would be nice if some corporation or philanthropist could donate lots of money, but the general public can help in different ways: publicizing the plight of the iguanas (I have cyclura.com's blue ig banner on 3 of my web sites) on the internet, purchasing items or donating at cyclura.com, discussing the situation at herp meetings or publishing one of John's articles (with permission, of course) in the newsletter, posting cyclura news items to list or forums you're involved with, etc. I truly believe that putting the information out there is just as valuable as the big money contributions.

:That is terrible. I hope that they can be saved, and soon. I have been planning on getting a Blue Iguana Hybrid, since you can't buy a purebreed Blue Iguana legally, and I wouldn't want to anyhow. I love the way they look, and it would truly be a sad state of affairs if for a mere $150,000 we lose such a beautiful species, but money is the root of all things bad. Hopefully, some rich person will fall in love with this creature and feel the need to donate a few mil.
