Amazon and eyespy say thanks

Now that I've had some time to calm down, I'm feeling a little better about Amazon's dropped tail. It hasn't phased the little wiggly iglet in the slightest, in fact s/he looks at me as if to say "It's meant to do that, what's the problem?" The only behavioral change I've noticed is she sleeps and drinks a little more than she used to do, not surprising as she is probably making up for the blood loss.

My friend Mark, the vet who helped me rescue Amazon from her tiny little prison, thinks the dropped tail might even be some advantage. What with the fused vertebrae at the tail base, Amazon just didn't have that much mobility in the tail. Now that it is shorter and lighter perhaps it will be easier for him to move.

We are going to the University of Pennsylvania on Monday for a series of xrays at the vet school and Mark is trying to sweet talk the "human docs" into letting us use the MRI at the medical school down the street to get some really detailed scans as well. So I will know more about whether the vertebrae are still fused or whether they have moved outward once again.

Mark may even teach me some physical therapy to try and get Amazon to use that tail. He feels that all iglet owners should experience the joys of a fullblown tailwhip. :-)
